Why Awards Matter: Earning the Congressional Award

  • Google Meet (link sent via RSVP confirmation) (map)

Awards aren't just résumé lines. They signal initiative, follow-through, and the kind of self-directed growth colleges and scholarship committees look for. The Congressional Award rewards exactly that: students set their own goals across four areas and prove they can see them through. This workshop walks you through how to register and how to set and describe goals in a way that genuinely stands out.

In this workshop, we'll cover:

  • What the Congressional Award is and why it carries real weight on an application

  • The four achievement areas: volunteer service, personal development, physical fitness, and an exploration or expedition

  • How to register and set goals that are ambitious but achievable in each area

  • How to track your hours and document progress so nothing gets lost along the way

  • How to describe your activities in language that shows initiative and impact, not just participation

RSVP below. Google Meet link will be emailed to you shortly before the presentation begins. Add the Event to your Google Calendar by clicking the Google Calendar button to your left.
